20 lipca 2022How I started my holistic business
I started my business in 2013. I built a seven-digit business together with my husband Michał, in harmony with myself, with respect for limitations and full use of talents. I created the foundations of Ayurveda as a profession in Poland. In this post, I am talking about my path to a holistic business.
I graduated with a master’s degree in psychology and thought I was well established in this professional way of being a psychologist. I specialized in working with people on their creativity. I was training creativity in an international environment and it looked like the future was bright.
But it really felt like this was not the right place for me and although it struck me as very strange and my relatives, my family and friends were very surprised to hear it. I did not feel this fulfillment, this joy, this excitement. And it still felt like I was destined for something bigger. I have more work to do. At that time, I didn’t know what it was yet.
A turning point
I was introduced to Ayurveda while I was still studying and it started out as a hobby, but then I began to realize that this could be my job. And this turning point came when I got very high in my career as an international trainer and psychologist. I think for an actress this is where you get your Oscar.
I was in a place like this and I felt I didn’t fit in there. I felt really empty and felt like I was wasting my time and energy on something that someone else, not me, could easily do.
The thought of really putting all my energy into Ayurveda and developing it as a business, not as a hobby, grew stronger in me and I decided to start and solidify our company. Ours, because I’m starting my business with my husband. We decided that from now on, Ayurveda will no longer be our hobby, it will be our work and something around which we build our professional and personal life.
Development
At the beginning I was teaching Ayurveda. I started offline with one-on-one consultations and switched to workshops soon after. Then I started with online courses in 2016 because I loved (and still love) online education. So it felt like a dream came true…
In the beginning, I did webinars at 6 p.m. because I was told it was the perfect time to be online with the audience. People will be live. You have to communicate with them live and at 6 p.m. sit down in front of the computer to conduct a webinar on Ayurveda. And this is just one example, but I can give you much more knowledge from the business world about how I should organize and run my Ayurvedic business.
I did exactly as I was told until I got to the point where I felt it was too much and that I had built an Ayurvedic mini corporate business for myself. Corporate because it was very complex, but mini because it was just me and my husband. And he was more of a supportive role than a presence on the business front.
Holistic business
I realized maybe it was time to use Ayurveda as a source of knowledge about how to run my business, not just information that I share with my clients. It was then that I started using Ayurveda as the principle of running my business.
It turned out that for the first few years of my activity, I was disconnected from Ayurveda as a source of knowledge about how to run a business and how to take care of myself as a business owner.
When I started reading Ayurvedic advice as a recipe for a business owner, magic started to happen. Of course, I was surrounded by a network of supportive people, coaches, and mentors, but these people were there to help me believe in what I already had inside me.
This is how I looked at Ayurveda as a set of rules, how to run a business, how I want to work and how to organize it, so that it supports me as a business owner and supports my client. This is how the holistic business was born, which I now teach other women.
